Syrup time !

                                                   ORANGE SYRUP
Ingredients:
• 2 ½ kg sugar
• 3 l water
• 1 sachet lemon salt
• zest of 6 oranges

Preparation method:
All the ingredients are to be boiled for 10 minutes.
Place syrup in a large jar, for 8 days, stirring twice daily.
Strain and put in bottles.

                                             ELDERFLOWER SYRUP
Only use the elderflower.After cleaning the flowers, place in a bowl and cover well with water (about 4-5 times the amount of flowers).
Boil for 15 minutes, remove the pan from the heat and leave covered 24 hours.
Strain and to each liter of juice add 1 ½ kg sugar.Simmer for 10 min.
Put into bottles after syrup well cooled.
Serve vith sparkling water and lemon.

                                                           PINE BUDS SYRUP

Ingredients:                                                     
• 1 kg pine buds
• 2 liters water
• 1 ½ kg sugar per liter of juice

Preparation method 1:
Boil tree sprouts in water for 1 hour (2 l water for 1 kg buds)
Take the bowl from heat and keep covered 48 hours (cold).
Strain and per liter of juice obtained add 1 ½ kg sugar.Simmer 10 min.Allow to cool.Put in bottles afer syrup well cooled.
 Grandma used to give us one tablespoon from this syrup for cough expectorant, bronchitis, upper respiratory disorders and urinary antiseptic.It is great for immune system too and contains vitamin C.
Can be served with sparkling wather too as a refresher.

MINT SYRUP

Boil 1 liter mint tea concentrate (10 minutes).Leave the pot covered for 24 hours, then strain Add 1 ½ kg sugar and simmer 10 min.Allow to cool . Put in bottles after syrup well cooled.

BASILICUM SYRUP

Boil 1 liter basilicum tea concentrate (10 minutes).Leave the pot covered for 24 hours, then strain Add 1 ½ kg sugar and simmer 10 min.Allow to cool . Put in bottles after syrup well cooled.

     Potential health effects :antioxidant, antiviral,antimicrobial.I use to drink a cup of tea for headaches, but only one cup, not too strong tea,because gradma said that intake of the seeds in large quantities is harmful for the brain.I also use fresh basil leaves to ward off mosquitos.

Basil has religious significance too, it is used to sprinkle holy water.



MELISSA ( LEMON BALM) SYRUP

     Boil 1 liter lemon balm tea concentrate (10 minutes).Add one lemon (chopped).Leave the pot covered for 24 hours, then strain Add 1 ½ kg sugar and simmer 10 min.Allow to cool . Put in bottles after syrup well cooled.
     Potential health effects :antioxidant,antimicrobial, antiviral.I use to drink a cup of tea as a mild sedative or calming agent, to improve mood and mental performance.Grandma offten claimed that a cup of lemon balm tea soothe stomach pains and helps to reduce weight.
     I am delightet of the lemon flavored leaves, so I offten use lemon blam syrup for topping ice creams or combined with fresh fruits juice.
     I also use fresh leaves for fish or chicken dishes, or as an "secret" ingredient for pesto.
     Fresh leaves rubbed on the skin banish mosquitos.

LINDEN FLOWER SYRUP


      Boil 1 liter linden flower tea concentrate (10 minutes).Leave the pot covered for 24 hours, then strain Add 1 ½ kg sugar and simmer 10 min.Allow to cool . Put in bottles after syrup well cooled.
 
 Potential health effects : commonly used for treating a cold or a cough, and related symptoms,linden flower helps to alleviate a stuffy noise and clear nasal passages, as well as break up mucus from the throat, linden flowers have a light calming effect, serving to help reduce anxiety. The linden flower can be used successfuly at treating stomach pains and relieving gas pressure.
  Linden flower syrup helps to boost the body's immune system for a while, making it more effective at fighting colds.
    I love to drink linden flower syrup with sparkling water and lemon juice, as a flavorful cold beverage.
    Linden flower syrup is also great with pancakes or for topping ice cream.
   Grandma used to boil some linden flovers with for 10 min and drink the flavoured hot tea to combat insomnia.
